Standardized tests provide students and faculty with data to improve performance. Students benefit from standardized testing environments and questions that mirror their licensure exams, are benchmarked against national standards, and assess licensure readiness using benchmark data. Faculty use aggregate data to analyze strengths and areas for improvement within their respective programs.
Standardized exams are integrated throughout the nursing curricula to provide multiple exposures to standardized tests and are mandatory. Each exam provides benchmark data on student scores to indicate level of performance. Certain exams are tied to courses and will contribute to the final course grade. Following the closure of exams, students receive a report from the testing agency outlining areas of strength and opportunities for content review. Based on this report, students must remediate the content areas that were identified as incorrect.
Unless otherwise noted, all standardized exams must be completed on campus in a proctored testing environment. Students will test on their own laptops; however, College laptops will be available. Students who do not test as scheduled may be subject to disciplinary processes. Students with testing accommodations are required to notify the NCLEX Success Coordinator at least two weeks prior to the scheduled standardized examination so that proper arrangements can be made.
