This course focuses on the knowledge and skills needed to identify and address system and process failures that contribute to errors. Students will develop expertise in monitoring, analyzing, and improving quality, with an emphasis on the role of informatics in driving improvements. The course explores quality improvement theories and frameworks, as well as how data analytics, electronic health records (EHR), and other informatics tools can be used to identify risks and enhance outcomes. Additionally, students will evaluate the nurse leader's role in fostering a culture of safety.
