Bellin College graduate programs do not have general education requirements. Graduate applicants and enrolled students must contact the specific program director directly for an assessment of potential major or program transfer work. Transfer school transcripts are reviewed to determine which courses are eligible to transfer. Course syllabi may be requested to complete assessment.
An applicant having courses in-progress (IP) at the time of credit evaluation, application or acceptance to the College must provide official transcripts as soon as the courses are completed. If approved, the transfer credit will appear on the transcript but will not be calculated into the student’s GPA.
Only enrolled/matriculated students will have transfer work posted to their record. Transfer course credit value is maintained when posting the courses to the student record (e.g., 3:3), unless course is transferring from a quarter credit or similar institution. Transfer courses are noted on the student's Plan of Study (POS). Each graduate degree program has specific rules and credit limits regarding transferring courses.
Nursing Programs
Transfer Credits - MSN and DNP
The graduate nursing program will accept credits of previous graduate level coursework, into the MSN or DNP program based on the following criteria:
- Coursework must have been completed within five years prior to admission to the program (or be approved by the Graduate Program Director//FNP Program Coordinator/DNP Clinical Coordinator).
- Courses transferred must be comparable in scope, subject matter, and rigor to courses offered in the BC MSN and DNP programs. The student will need to provide a course description and the course syllabus for any course requested for transfer. A transfer credit form must be completed and submitted to the Graduate Nursing Program Director for approval.
- All courses transferred in must be at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
- All transfer credits must be certified by the Registrar and approved for the degree by the Graduate Nursing Program Director, FNP Program Coordinator, and or DNP Clinical Coordinator.
- Transfer credits will not be applied to the cumulative grade point average the student earns while in the graduate nursing program.
MSN- DNP students are eligible to transfer 500 hours from a previous graduate degree program provided the student is currently a certified and practicing APRN.
Graduate Nursing Residency Requirement
A student who transfers into the Family Nurse Practitioner or Educator track of the Graduate Nursing Program may transfer a maximum of nine approved semester credits/hours. All remaining program credit requirements must be completed at Bellin College.
DNP students may transfer a maximum of six approved semester credits/hours (not inclusive of practicum hours).
Physical Therapy Programs
Doctor of Physical Therapy
The DPT program will not grant advanced placement, credit for experiential learning, or transfer credits from another program or institution. All courses within the professional didactic and clinical curriculum are required.
Transfer Credits - Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy
A maximum of 40 semester credit/hours (three-course units or their equivalents) may be approved for transfer credit. Transfer credits will be considered if the course(s) is similar in content and rigor to the Bellin College Doctor of Science in Physical Therapy curriculum, and the grade must be at least an “AB” (90% and above). Grades of” B” are only accepted under special circumstances with program director approval. Grades of “B-“, “B/C”, “C”, “C/D”, “D”, are not accepted.
Credit may be given for terminal doctoral degree level bio-statistics classes, with successful passing of a competency examination in this area.
The student must submit an official transcript, description and syllabi of the course(s) taken to the DSc Program Director for evaluation if the student believes the course is equivalent to a Bellin College graduate course. Transfer credit decisions are at the discretion of the Program Director. If approved, the transfer credit will appear on the transcript but will not be calculated into the student’s GPA.
