DPT 742: Integrated Clinical Experience II

This is the second of three courses dedicated to immersing physical therapy students into the clinical environment through part-time clinical experiences. This course provides students with active learning opportunities to continue to develop their professional identity and reinforce didactic content and skills learned in prior and concurrent courses through real and simulated clinical encounters with diverse patient groups in an inpatient setting, outpatient setting, and community setting. Students additionally participate in a learning experience in a walk-in injury clinic to compare the roles of physical therapy and athletic training. Emphasis is placed on performing components  of the patient-client management model including completing a chart review and obtaining a subjective history, performance of tests and measures used in physical therapy screening and examination, application of the International Classification of Function to guide evaluation and plan of care decisions, understanding the application of various therapeutic interventions to difference patient presentations, and documentation and billing. 

Prerequisites

Successful completion of all term 1 coursework.
