There are variable costs associated with APRN certification and licensing as an advanced practice nurse.
FNP and PMHNP students have the option of sitting for certification exams through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners Certification Board (AANPCB).
Medication Access and Training Expansion Act (MATE)
In alignment with the Medication Access and Training Expansion Act, APRN graduates will have successfully completed the required eight hours of education in opioid prescribing and management prior to licensure. This requirement is met through targeted coursework within the program.
FNP students
- NUR 595 Advanced Pharmacology (4 hours)
- NUR 754 FNP Theory 3 (4 hours)
PMHNP students
- NUR 595 Advanced Pharmacology (4 hours)
- NUR 596 Neurobiology and Psychopharmacology (2 hours)
- NUR 742 PMHNP Theory 2 (2 hours)
These courses ensure compliance with state legislation while preparing APRN graduates to provide safe, evidence-based care.
Costs associated with these exams are not covered in Bellin College fees. These fees are paid directly to the vendor and have varying costs. Information about the certification exam and licensing is provided to students in the semester prior to graduation. There is no additional certification related to the DNP for nurses already certified as Advanced Practice Providers.
